Independent capital,
operator DNA.
Independent capital, operator DNA.
What began in 2011 has grown into a strategic family office with a diverse portfolio spanning oil and gas, propane, fabrication, construction, engineering, mechanical, plumbing, and power generation.
Tyton was built by operators who’ve been in the trenches — serving customers, building teams, fixing what’s broken, and carrying the weight when the load gets heavy.
We’re not your typical private equity firm beholden to outside investors. Instead, we put our energy where it counts — solving problems, unlocking growth, and backing companies we believe in.

Meet the
Tyton family.

The
Tyton
Story
Our approach has always been simple: build strong teams, foster a culture of ownership, and operate with grit. That mindset has shaped Tyton since day one — and it still drives every move we make.

2011
The Beginning
Tyton Holdings is founded in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as a strategic family office — born from the successful exit of a prior venture that began in 1992.
The name Tyton blends the names of the founding partners’ firstborn sons, Tyson and Peyton — a reflection of the legacy-driven mindset that still defines us today.

2011
The Initial Acquisition
Rolfson Oil, a $7M fuel company based in Watford City, ND became Tyton Holdings first acquisition. Rolfson Oil has become North America’s largest oilfield only energy supplier generating over $900M in revenue.
What began as a four-truck, six-employee operation now energizes the oilfield in six states thanks to relentless customer service, innovation, and a commitment to doing things right.
2012
EXITED 2015
Early Growth
Tyton founded Dakota Dumpster, LLC in 2012 and exited in 2015 for $3.5M, proof of fast growth.

2019
Big Ass Tanks Joins the Portfolio
Tyton acquires Big Ass Tanks (BAT), a trusted fabrication company serving the industrial, agricultural, and oilfield sectors in the Southwest.
With over 40 years of experience, BAT specializes in custom tank manufacturing, structural steel projects, and fully integrated systems.

2020
Staxmatic
Tyton acquired three contractors with a combined $10M in revenue. Since merging under one roof and focusing on mechanical, plumbing and piping specialties, this number has grown to $100M plus a robust backlog.
With 45 years in the industry, Staxmatic is known for complex industrial applications in preferred southern locations.

Entry and Exit
Garbologist, known as “The Service Scientist” provided roll-off dumpster, porta-jon and hand washing stations in Denver, Colorado, Pensacola and Panama City, Florida, Lake Charles, Louisiana and San Antonio, Texas. Although the business scaled rapidly with emergency response and recurring service routes, the value of the equipment and dumpsters increased so substantially, it made financial sense to sell the assets.

2021
Adding Propane
Tyton acquires Butch’s Propane in 2021 and Brother’s Propane in 2023. Four years later this $3.5M company will close 2025 at $50M.
Butch’s continues to serve residential, commercial, agricultural and oil field customers in Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico and West Texas.

2021
Relocating to Texas
Tyton relocates its corporate headquarters to Addison, Texas — placing the team closer to many of the companies they operate and support.

2024
The Push for Power
Tyton Power provides mobile and distributed energy to utilities, data centers, and industrial customers with resilient behind-the-meter generation, microgrids, and backup systems – from 800kW to over 500MW.

2025
Infrastructure Launches
Tyton formally launches Tyton Infrastructure to take on complex, high-stakes infrastructure projects.
From remote energy sites to dense urban grids, Tyton Infrastructure delivers the systems that power modern life — with a focus on safety, performance, and long-term reliability.

A growing portfolio with long term focus
Tyton owns and operates companies across oil and gas, propane, fabrication, mechanical, plumbing, and infrastructure.
We’re not done. Not even close. We’ll keep betting on hard-working people, solving real problems, and building companies that last longer than we do.
"And we’re just
getting started!"
